SAFETY
Approximately 750,00
children are reported missing each year according to the U.S. Department of
Justice.* Freaky statistic? You
bet it is! Who wants to think of their child as a statistic of anything,
never mind an abduction or worse. But there lies the cold hard truth -
750,000 children a year. What can we do? Do we have an obligation to
our kids and our community to do something? YES WE DO! The fact of
the matter is, it won't go away and ignoring it won't help those at risk - the
children. Organizations have tightened up security nationwide to help
decrease abductions, molestations and worse. And so where are all those
bad people going for more kids? The churches, you guessed it. How
tight is your security? How many times has a near miss occurred in your
neighborhood? How many times have you heard the phrase, "IT IS BETTER
TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY," and never did more than listen? These
things don't happen to no one, they happen to children we know. And just
because it has not happened yet, don't doubt that something will eventually
occur. There are things we can do to protect our children. Things
that are obvious and obtrusive and things that are subtle and bring peace of
mind to your congregants. We suggest you start here and assess what you
need. After you have decided you must have this level of security kick it up a notch
to cover your blind spots...It's better to be safe than sorry.
